Ginge I remember as a kid calling the family to come outside because there was a rocket flying, that turned out to be Concorde in a slight turn so that I couldn't see the wings. Exciting times for kids, I can also remember sat in the garden when we were hit by a sonic boom, it may well have been Concorde too during test flying.

Yeah, it was a great time to be a kid... Nowadays it seems like the big news is a new version of Call of Duty while we were getting colour TV, landing on the moon, calculators followed by computers and a whole host of actually new things...

I saw the Concorde on its maiden flight, came right over the top of us at Weston on the Green. It was accompanied by a Canberra in its photo recon role obviously filming the flight, just in case. I remember, when comparing it to the size of the Canberra flying close to it, that it was nowhere near as big as I thought that it would be. Funny what sticks in your mind from all those years ago.

Bill although I never got to fly in one I did walk inside the one at Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum a few years ago, and yes it is surprising how small it is in real life.
