"Rabbi's Escapade Which Sent him to Colchester"

"When we returned from Libya there was a notice on P.O.R.'s for N.C.O.'s to be interviewed for Military Prison Staff with a promotion to Sergeant if successful, so I applied.

The interviews were taking place at RAF UXBRIDGE and all went well and I was successful, there was a Dance in the NAAFI on the Friday night so we went, I was dancing with a WRAF and this Welsh guy came up to us. He said that is my Fiancee your are with so I said that I didn't know and sorry, he then said that Scotsmen should not be allowed to be near white women never mind dance with them.

I lost it and decked him and the next thing I know Snowdrops, so many in fact I thought I was in a blizzard, surrounded me.

I did not notice he was wearing a red sash as he was the duty Corporal, so I was charged with assault and sent back to Sealant where I went up before the C.O then the Station Commander and finally a District Court Martial again.

I got reduced to the ranks and 84 days detention in Colchester."

I'm bored and jusr reading through some old posts. Reading this one reminded me of when I went to the disco at Catterick army camp in the mid 70's. I can't remember the chapsname now but he was ginger. We started dancing with a couple of women when this big hairy para walked through the door and said to ginger that he was dancing with his girl. Ginge replied that she was his girl tonight to which the aforementioned air dangler then replies do you know who I am? Ginge "nope not a clue" then the squaddie says "I'm airborne) I started making my way out to hail a taxi as the Ginger one ups and says "you will be in a minute if you don't fuck off"!!
Luckily there was an empty taxi just moving off and we jumped into it and I remember looking out of the back window at half the parachute regiment running after us through the camp. I never went to that camp again.

Pretty low standards dancing with a woman that would be seen with a Para...

Rabbi was quite active on Regiments sites way back at the beginning of T'internet.
He died a few years ago and was a bit of a character.

Glad that there are still a few sites that manage to preserve our history. I enjoy going through posts on here from years ago.

FaceBook, while good for keeping contact with old Muckers, it usually descends into petty arguments, silly jokes and utter bollocks.

Shame really.
