I never knew that ROCKAPES were attached to the Harrier Sqns. After we came back from the Far East at the end of 1969 15 Sqn was posted to RAF Wittering. The home of the Harrier, and as far as I’m aware we didn’t do many exercises with the Harrier. Unless Mick or Shakers can knock some Remembrance into me.

18 Sqn were in the Falklands conflict. They were situated next to the Field Hospital. There were about 15 Rocks posted on the Sqn. Sgt John ( Paddy) Kiely was the SNCO in charge. Hope that this helps.
Shakers.

When the two Harrier Sqns were formed and posted to Wittering. It was envisaged at the time that each Sqn would require a Regiment Sqn for support, backup and defence. Hence 15/51 Sqns at Wittering. It was realized after a few evaluations that only a Flt was required. Meanwhile the two Rock Sqns stayed at Wittering until 1983. (GREAT Posting)
Shakers.

The 'end ex' piss ups were good - in the middle of a wood on the Sennelager Training Area.
