Hi, sorry it's been a while since I checked this. Yes, there was a change in the decision but it was only awarded to those soldiers with dependants. This is something at least. However, my brother died doing the job of a Corporal and u think the Mod are getting away with 'paying their dues'. The day after his death they formally made him up to Corporal rank. All their legal paperwork refers to him as Corporal. Their own pensions people came out and explained to my mother that she would receive his pension at the corporal rate, when the cheque came in, it was rather short!

They made a quick u- turn. Following the above quoted article in the Leicester mercury, we were told that there was no way we would get the money. (it's not about the money to us- I assure you all it's not)

My brother did not have the chance to have a family of his own but he has family and surely the right to not be discriminated against due to his marital status.

Fucking typical to be honest... They waste billions on fucked up or crony contracts and penny pinch the poor fucker at the bottom of the pile for a few quid.

I'm wondering if you, (I hate to say this), might get some sympathy over on ArRSe, (www.arrse.co.uk), because if you can they have an "outrage bus" big enough to actually get things done. It might be worth a poke around and maybe dip your toe in the water there.

I will do, I'm just going to hang fire until the judge on the case makes his decision ( next few weeks). We are just replying to the mods submissions to the judge and then he will decide. Completely agree, it's all about saving a few quid. Well, I'm afraid they short changed the wrong young man ;) thanks for your support guys, it's good to vent!

Good luck with the judge but, for some reason, I have less confidence in the judicial system than I did when I was young...
