RockNet's First Amendment
PreambleAs a result of the incident, (the details of which being unclear), where The British Army Rumour Service, (
http://www.arrse.co.uk), was forced to retract or delete content, ban or suspend members and change it's rules to accommodate a minority RockNet is altering it's regulations to address the issue prior to it occurring here.
PrinciplesRockNet is a part of the Internet where some of the most vile, disgusting and offensive content is freely available to everyone regardless of race, creed, colour, religion, sexual preference, gender or, (sadly), age. RockNet is a small part of that Internet and serves a very small portion of the world population. Namely, those who serve or served in the RAF Regiment, those who serve or served in the RAF and supported the RAF Regiment, those who wish to join the RAF Regiment, those who are interested, (for whatever reason), in the RAF Regiment and, lastly, those who wish to entertain "inter-service banter" or other "tongue in cheek" wordplay with the Members of Rocknet.
In short and while much of the content is publicly available, RockNet is
not for those who, on either a professional or amateur basis, wish to make trouble or cause problems for RockNet, it's owners or it's members.
AmendmentThese Rules and Regulations are highlighted in bold red type on the upper part of the very first page you see. It is the most obvious thing visible on the first page you will always see unless you deliberately choose to go directly to some other sub-URL other than
http://www.hqrafregiment.net which is your right but, by circumventing the root URL of RockNet you are not expunged of the responsibility of reading something you had the opportunity to read should you so desire.
If you followed a direct link from another web site and you found our content offensive in a way that gave you no opportunity to view our rules and regulations then your offense should, rightfully, be taken up with the site that allowed the link to be published rather than with RockNet which would, obviously, be deprived of the opportunity of warning you that you might be offended.
RockNet is a small group of people with their own diverse thoughts, attitudes and humour. Just as if you overheard us speaking in a pub, restaurant or on a street this is our form of communication. If you don't like it, stop listening, leave, go away. Do whatever you need to do to remove the offense your world.
If, as a sensible person would, you visited and chose not to read something you were obviously asked to read then RockNet, it's owners and members are not responsible for your subsequent feeling of offense. The owners have no revenue stream from this site. There are no adverts, pop-ups or pervasive links. RockNet does not use or sell your contact information to anyone. In other words, you have no leverage here. The owners are beholden to no-one and believe that persons who are so thin skinned as to try to cause trouble in a medium that can be turned off at the reader's will are just that, troublemakers.
Troublemakers will be banned by username. If you chose to return under another "nom de plume" you are demonstrating your desire to accept the rules. After being banned by IP Address if you return you are, again, reinforcing your desire to be a member. Your continued activity will be logged and documented and, were you to be determined enough to expend your efforts in a legal fashion, said activity will be used in the court the owners could be detrimentally affected in as evidence against you in the counter suit.
To conclude: If you wish to be a member of this group you are very welcome. You may argue, make points, be offended by that which others say at will. You may discuss them here publicly or with the owners or moderators. If you find RockNet to be too offensive then the owners and members of RockNet wish you the very best in your future ventures and know we will miss you as you leave.
Now... If that isn't the nicest "Fuck right off" you've ever had I'll be, pretty much, totally gobsmacked!!!
