This is the text of my feedback:

Quote:
I'll begin by stating I have been a Network Manager for almost 30 years and rarely write reviews.

The device arrived well packed and my hopes were high having had to return a previously purchased Laser Engraver that required a lot of construction and didn't work mainly for software reasons. I followed the instructions and installed the software that returned some unintelligible error messages.

I requested assistance. I was told I need to wait while their "Technical Support" looks at the issue. Then they requested photo's/screen shots and video which I duly sent. There were two clear issues. Firstly, the manual states that when power is applied the laser head will return to it's zero/zero position and, second, the software provided consistently stated that the "Engraver was disconnected". I've turned on the machine a hundred times and the laser head hasn't even farted and, not unsurprisingly, the software has always said the device isn't connected. I have, on several occasions pointed this out to our venerable seller.

Everything takes 24 hours or more with these chaps so settle in and find something important to do.

Golly gee... I asked a question on a Friday... I was informed that now it is weekend I won't get a response. I'm fair, I like my weekends so I said I'd like a solution on Monday morning... But wait, they asked that I send them an email to remind them on Monday because they have so many complaints. This is a seller that sells a fairly technical product that can't mark an email as "unread" or set a calendar reminder.

Come Monday I had to remind them. Their "Technical Support" told me I should turn off my Anti-Virus, uninstall all their software and reinstall it again. This is a 15 year old solution to problems that no longer exist. I went a step further and uninstalled the Anti-Virus, then all their software and then reinstalled all their stuff with no AV... There was no way this process would fix the laser head not moving when power is applied issue but I humored them. After reinstalling everything AV free nothing had changed.

I emailed them just before 11:00am and requested a solution by 3:00pm... It's now almost 8:00pm, (5:00pm in California), and they still haven't responded.

The "takeaway" from this is that this company is selling a product they have never opened the box, set it up and tried their product...

The product will be winging it's way home in the morning...

They really don't give a shit...

These machines work well if you find the right vendor. I just bought a US built CNC router and it works like a dream and is built like a brick shithouse - I had to put in all the 200 nuts and bolts... :faint:

Hi Ginge,

Agreed mate.

Some of the members of the computer club I belong to have bought computer electronics from Chinese vendors and had to return said item because of poor quality engineering etc.

The usual fault is poor soldering where connectors short out when the computer powers up.

Another classic is Chips of a specific type being renumbered/renamed and unsuitable for purpose.

Regards, Mick. D.

The only thing that comes out of China that is worth having is steamed dumpling and steamed Dim Sum or Sim depending where you come from. Yummy

I wish it was only steamed dumplings that came out of China. The other thing is money. As our Sheffield City Council are now on the receiving end of loads of Chinese dosh. Give us your Yuan, as our Labour Councillors are saying, as the Chinese continue to buy up loads of property and land in which to build in Sheffield. Us locals are now calling Sheffield, Chinafield.

It's the Chinese non too subtle way of taking control of a country by stealth and wealth. They learned from the experience of the Germans and the Japanese who became economic powerhouses after "losing' the war. Makes you wonder doesn't it.
