I recall the Meadows Generator well but certainly not with any fondness. It was a bastard of a thing to start and as you say a real wrist breaker. You could also start it with something resembling a shotgun shell but I have never seen that used except on a training film.

It is a toss up what was worse, the chipping handle in the number 4 position ripping your knuckles ("Held No 4") or the starting handle on the Meadows.
