Hi MadFad,

The 181 was "good enough" to upgrade and use with FSC.

Of course it`s all a moot point now percy has the ex Regt FSCs and the Air Defence Ground Environment Role.

So, we`ll just have to wait untill theres an Air War.

Regards, Mick D.

Hi Bill,

My first Sqn was 1 Sqn "Bofors" and they worked OK.

My last (real) Sqn was 37 Sqn Rapier and the techies did a brilliant job keeping the kits working.

But it`s like comparing Apples and Oranges mate, totally different way of dealing with the air threat.

My last Sqn 27/48 Auggies had a Missile Practice Camp at the Hebrides Ranges and if it hadn`t been for our regular Techy and Rock staff nothing would have worked, far too complex for someone like an Augie to learn. The Augies even had trubs handling small arms safely :(

Regards, Mick D.

Editted because of copy/paste cock-up :)

Thanks Amiga, yes the Techies where bloody good they had to be, we didn't (most of us) volunteer for rapier, we had to prove ourselves capable of carrying out our prime role and the role that you thought us :guin: capable of, in most cases the capability and professionalism of some :guin: 's caused angst amongst your cadre

Madfad you think the rocks were bad with rapier the pongo's were far worse, they would remove the camera box play football with it re-fit it and say the kit went down. BAE loved the raf regt between the rocks and the JAFAD's we made rapier look good and a sales pitch at the outer hebs when the Arabs came to see about buying it.
