When 3 Sqn reformed at Hullavington they pretty much posted about three entire basic courses to us to make up the numbers...That was interesting.

And further to wot Ginge was saying, when I joined II Sqn I was one of three LACs and we were the firts LACs on Sqn for about 6 to 8 months. That too was interesting, in that II Sqn kind of way :fight: :slap: :headbang:

Cheers - Ray byebye

I read your post with interest JB, may I ask where you got your information from??

I spoke with vic who is 609 sqn f/s who told me that the sqn's accept auggies as if they are a new posting to the sqn. And much has changed as in total its a 12 month detachment. And with vic being the F/S you can understand he would be in the know as he and 609 sqn would be getting fed back of any of there auggies being sent to correct any miss training or adjustments that the sqn may ask for.

Well this sort of brings the thread to an end, if it is now the excepted norm for Aux NCO's to be in command positions then so be it. :salute:

My last point would be this, during my time of service it was the case that many of our NCO's where lets say mature. And the Regt sort of held the view that to be commander a little bit of grey hair, & a tad of a beer belly made you look the part.

If we look at WW2, RAF Sqns were commanded by very young men by today's standards,
& many of them preformed very well. So may be its time we gave the younger men the chance to take the reproducibility's.

On a personal note it is still all bollox.

points to note from this thread for me are:

1. As Ginge pointed out reservists and oggys to me are there to fill in the blank spaces left by regulars when away on duty.

2. If you want to be a member of HM Forces stop twatting around and playing at the game part-time. To me being a Rock was a serious full time commitment.

3. Stop pandering to the troops they took the oath to serve their Queen and country and if that means your away from your friends and family until the jobs done so be.

4. The government and HM forces need to get their heads together and decide who runs the fucking military, finance them properly and stop doing everything fecking half arsed.

there are bits and pieces I glean from threads on here everyday that depress the feck out of me and make me glad that I no longer serve.......like Rocks training on treadmills in trainers, wannabe pebbles looking for sympathy cos they can't be arsed to train properly and want their mudguards handed to them on a plate, half your flight being made up of LAC's, bases being shut left right and centre, crap kit etc etc etc.

Someone pass me the valium
